Our first big journey as a family
In February 2025, a new chapter began. A new van. A growing family. And a question many people quietly asked themselves… are they really going to do this with a six-month-old baby? The answer came somewhere on a snow-covered road, heading north. Far north. Beyond the Arctic Circle. For six unforgettable months, our home on wheels carried us through Scandinavia, across frozen landscapes, endless forests, winter storms, and roads buried under snow. We chased northern lights, skied through silent valleys, woke up to frozen windows, and learned what family life really means when the outside world drops below minus twenty degrees. There was snow. A lot of snow. There was rain, mud, long dark nights, unexpected challenges, sleepless moments, and plenty of improvisation. But there was also laughter, campfires, first discoveries, quiet mornings, and the kind of memories no camera could ever fully capture.Ian may never consciously remember those first adventures. He may never remember sleeping under Arctic skies, hearing the wind shake the van, or watching snow fall outside while wrapped in warmth inside. But somehow, we believe it’s all already part of him. Written somewhere deeper than memory. This journey wasn’t just about exploring the North. It was about discovering who we were becoming… together.
